Hood River OR Veterans Recovery Program

Storytelling is a human super-power. Unfortunately, cognitive bias prepares us as targets for those that aim to leverage our ignorance. The good news is that there is a way out of the tangled thinking we fall for. The story we tell our-self turns out to be the most important one we hear in battle. We reinforce what we hear the most. That's the story we talk all day long.

SELF-REFLECTION VIDEO MODELING

I created the book, video series, and online platform to demonstrate that self-reflection video modeling is an effective method of transforming a Hood River OR veteran's wounds into a noble journey. Participants document their “journey with a purpose” and experience personal and professional transformation by understanding why we do what we do (wwdwwd).

Our journey through life are full of chaos to untangle - especially in Hood River OR. Our brains are resource conservative, so we often take short-cuts, jumping to a conclusion without making the effort to understand things from different points of view. And we bet there are some unique points of view across Hood River OR.

Participants record their journeys while building a corpus for their family and digital avatar. They share insights from hard-earned lessons and character changes valued by close relationships and future generations. Net outcome: awareness, understanding, discipline, and maturity.

PROGRAM KEY POINTS

VIDEO SERIES TO MIMIC

I shot and edited 45 expedition videos to demonstrate the mental tools in-use while overcoming challenges, delays, and setbacks. Watching expedition events with transparent descriptions helps participants mimic self-awareness, understanding and discipline.

The Episodes follow the Author's journey from homeless, to hosteling, and onto Airstreaming with numerous obstacles, setbacks and delays.

The videos are visually excellent, with a compelling message in each. Considering that the series followed the adventure, the events co-ordinate in such a way that supports the program. W.H. Murray pointed this out about his Himalayan Expedition:

"the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way."
W.H. Murray The Scottish Himalayan Expedition (1951)

The Greatest Expedition you will ever undertake is the journey to self-understanding. You can climb a 'Personal Everest' free-climbing, but we don't recommend it. In this video, you'll learn about five ways you can participate - with others, with the Author, and by leading others in a licensed platform.

The first option you have is self-supported - going in alone. You can get there I did. You can learn why you do what you do WYDWYD and work your way through the workbook. However, I highly recommend a peer supported expedition. That's where you are not going alone. You will not have a faulty partner (yourself) to depend on, rather you will have accountability and support with others that are going through this. You'll gain insights from multiple points of view, including my own.

ONLINE SUPPORT PLATFORM

recovery program for Hood River OR veterans

The online support platform features participant discussions of each episode, peer review of shared expedition clips, creative and technical and guidance, and 1-on-1 author support to apply insights and gain traction.

When you use the platform, you'll have a journal of interactions, insights and questions for others. In this way you can review your steps, and appreciate progress you are making.

PHYSICAL EXPEDITIONS

Veterans are familiar with exercises and war games. We understand that preparation makes for readiness. The Hood River OR Veteran recovery program can be done with other participants in-route, or solo within the restrictions of your current situation. Remember what Marcel Proust shared: "the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes."

You will watch and mimic mental tools from the first volume of fifteen chapters, and then see the tools in-use over the second volume. By applying the tools to what-ever your journey reveals, and recording your failures, challenges and progress, you will be able to look back - convincing your mind that you are (in-fact) capable, willing, and measurably accomplishing a fabulous Personal Everest.

Challenge Your Personal Everest

The Greatest Expedition you'll ever undertake is the journey to self-understanding. This is not about discovering new lands, but in seeing with new eyes. I invite you to challenge your Personal Everest!

O·nus Pro·ban·di

"Onus probandi incumbit ei qui dicit, non ei qui negat" meaning: the burden of proof is on the claimant - not on the recipient!
